a breakup is at least better than...??

even though its late tonight - i found myself cruising through the net and soon found myself going through a bunch of different ivillage message boards...

upon checking out "surviving a divorce," - i couldnt help but think...

maybe our breakups arent SO bad??? i mean - what if we were actually MARRIED to our ex's...then, not only would be dealing with having to part ways - but there would be a multitude of other difficult factors to deal with ... such as finances, legalaties, etc etc...

and in retrospect - if it wasnt "meant to be" - then its better that we broke up NOW with our partners than later on down the road when knots are tied and it becomes THAT much more complicated...

i am, by no means, mocking divorces or undermining the "intensity" of our breakups... but really, ... isnt a breakup better than a divorce? can we be grateful for that atleast??

just rambling from me!

I suppose you are right but it also depends on the amount of emotional commitment someone has put into a relationship, be it marriage or no marriage. For example, it's hard to imagine Brittney Spears marrying that one guy in Vegas and then really grieving over it when they divorced 3 days later. So, while I agree mostly with you, you can also have a loveless 20 year marriage and probably not experience the pain of an intense love affair that lasts 3 months. I think it all depends on how invested someone is emotionally. But either way, divorce is probably messier, what with all the legal stuff to sort through.
