clean break?

I broke up with someone and we both still want to be friends. He calls me just about everyday. I've tried to not answer his call, but I feel rude. Any suggestion to tell him that we shouldn't talk that much? I feel bad when I keep giving excuses "I have to go because.." Help..

Be honest with him. Tell him that right now talking to him hurts too much. If you do want to be friends with him eventually tell him that. Tell him that you just need some time to yourself to heal and when you are ready to talk to him you will contact him.
Hope this helped. And keep us updated.

Hi and welcome to the board :)
Get the book 'The Rules' and follow their advice.
You can't lose.
I just broke up with a man I lived with for 22 months, and he tried to pull me back into the relationship via one of his friends, which only prolonged my grieving process.
I emailed his friend and let him know I wanted a clean break.
I didn't tell him that staying in contact with my ex via him was killing me emotionally.
My ex cannot make his mind up about our relationship, and until he does, I'm out.
It's his loss if I find someone else to love.
