Ok!Ok! Enough advice already!
I sent him a text saying "sorry ,but I think this friendship has taken a wrong turn. While I have enjoyed your company , I realized that this is not the best position for a married women to be in. Love you to death, but if we take this any further I'm not sure I could live with myself. This really sneaked up on me before I realized what was happening. You're a great guy, hope you find a great "single" lady to share yourself with. Take care of yourself, goodbye".
Now, he still never replied to any of the messages, not even the last and final one. I have deleted him from my phone, ate a 1/2 gallon of Jamoca Almond Fudge, brought a really expensive new handbag and redecorated my guest bedroom. All in all I'm feeling pretty good about the whole thing. At least I learned something....sometimes that's your only reward....right? Thanks for all your advice ladies!!
Oh, one more thing, I now know all about the "emotional affair" phenomenon.I tried to explain it to my husband , just to get his thoughts on it. His bottom line "Did you sleep with him?" NO "you sure?" YES "don't worry about it---but no more contact" OK I gottcha, no more contact.
When you've been married for 25 years you'll find yourself forgiving alot of indiscretions...his and yours for the greater good.
