Friendship after Love?

Want everyone's thoughts on an oft-discussed topic: can you be friends after a breakup?

I tend to lean toward a strong NO. But then again, i am good friends with one ex but then that relationship was unofficial more-than-friendship until we recently acknowledge our history of dating eachther without calling it that. Even there, I have to be so careful to not slip into old habits of treating him as more. IN the midst of my current breakup, I do not know HOW to be friends.

What do you avoid?
What is okay?
Cold turkey or occasional talks?
What if the relationship is distance?

Hi meaqui,

I've found most people can't be friends after a break-up especially if one of them still has romantic feelings for the other.

Move on and find someone new! You are worth finding someone who cares for you the way you want to be cared for!!! I've tried the friendship with the ex thing before, and got pretty yanked around, and hurt all over again, especially when he found someone new and 'dumped' me again!!!!
