I told Nate that we should have no contact in order for us to become friends.

Well, like a diet or quitting smoking or anything that you don't *really* want to do but you know is better for you, you have to make a decision that no contact is what you're going to do, and stick with it, one day at a time.

Hi skittlesrock,

In the future consider writing UNSENT letters to him to vent and/or explain how you feel, then burn them.

Thanks for that article. I read it and I have been known to be obsessive with the phone calls, but don't think so now.

I'm going through a VERY similar situation. My boyfriend and I broke up when I made him choose. He choose to be single and be friends with me, which I said, NO. He no longer calls me, emails me or looks for me. I miss him so much but I know that I have to let him go if I ever want him to respect me. I've been told by friends and loved ones that if he truly loves me, he'll come back, which is what your guy will do if he cares about you. I hope it's comforting to know that you are not alone and there are a lot of women (and men) in your situation and we will all overcome this heartache and learn from this experience. I will also try to follow my own advice and think of all you for strength.
