How do they get over it so easily?
| Fri, 01-25-2008 - 9:08am |
It's been about a week since the breakup. 3 days of no contact. My engagement was called off. The fighting just got too much and he didn't want to try to work on it.
I'm having hard time with the rejection. How can he walk away so easily? How can he just give up so easily? Did he not really love me?

It's not necessarily about him getting over you easily, forgetting about you etc.
Not knowing what was said in the fights Men shut down. Its a protective mechanism..
We don't "share" feelings well...
He is with his buddies...probale drinking and drowning his sorrows...
Ha Bob
I wish I thought that all my ex was doing was drinking with his buddies and drowning his sorrows.
That can come later..Most likely out with his friends..drowning his sorrows..
Swearing off women...
Yes, that is what we do...
Then later we go for the "quick" hit to re-affirm ourselves...but if our friends think that there is a chance of fixing what is broken..they will get the guy hammered out of his mind before they let him do anything "too stupid"..yes I know it is a relative term...
Well Bob, I will try to go with your theory!
Welcome to the board bobk2007 and thanks for participating.
OK..you are still in college...When I was in college (back in the Stone Age..1980's) things were somewhat different. You may laugh but there were morals.
Yes, most of the guys on the football team were concerned with 2 things (beer and ladies) BUT when any guy, that was in a serious relationship, looked like he was about to do something REALLY STUPID (yes, there are many levels of stupid) there was a group of us that would intervene.
Now granted that was over 20 years ago but it worked.
The problem as I see it is that men (too many for my taste) seem to be stuck in the Peter Pan stage. "I don't want to grow up." They seem to think that htey can be kids forever.
This is having a negative impact on our society. Women seem to be maturing at 2x's the speed guys are.
If he is out drinking and partying with the boys he could be just trying to drown the sorrows.
I have done it in the past. Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker Black were my best friends for a couple of weekends.
You are in your 20's. You should be out having a blast. Gte the girls together and go out. Find out what party he is at and get an invitation or crash it. Do people still crash parties?
You are too young to worry about this.
Have a great weekend.

Thanks Bob!!
I do have a great time.
Well, the best thing is to hqave fun and try like h*ll to put him out of your mind.
Have fun with the girls, go out and kick back a little bit.
You will see him again if you live in the same town...
The fact of the matter is it is probable a maturity issue, I know I sure had mine.
ONS and NSA are not good for the soul. Most men find that out too late.
One last thing, you are too young to worry about this.
I met my wife after breaking up with a girl I went out with for almost 2 years. We disagreed about about doing drugs. She liked them and I did not. I hade sworn off women :)
I went to Cape Cod with my friends (13 guys..we all thought we were God's gift to women) and I watched my friends act like complete fools trying to get this knockout on the dance floor. They tried every line in the book..they all had to do the walk of shame (across the dance floor) back to our table.
I just asked her too dance and she did..and the rest is history...married 21 years, engaged for 1 year and dated for 2 years.
But realize this..I did not expect to meet anyone, let alone my wife. It usually happens when u least expect it.
Have fun, enjoy college and I hope you are majoring in something that you can find a job in.
Good Luck & Gods speed..
