Inspirational Lyrics for Recovery...

Hi All,
I found this song by John Lennon that somehow touched me about the road to recovery and healing. Really nothing changes except our feelings and perceptions. If we can see that the rain is really our emotions, we can see that eventually they will pass and we'll move on. The weather, the seasons they pass and if we can understand that what we're feeling will also pass, we can reach that inner peace we seek to move on....
RAIN
If the rain comes they run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes, if the rain comes
When the sun shines they slip into the shade
(When the sun shines down)
And drink their lemonade
(When the sun shines down)
When the sun shines, when the sun shines
Rain, I don't mind
Shine, the weather's fine
I can show you that when it starts to rain
(When the rain comes down)
Everything's the same
(When the rain comes down)
I can show you, I can show you
Rain, I don't mind
Shine, the weather's fine
Can you hear me, that when it rains and shines
(When it rains and shines)
It's just a state of mind?
(When it rains and shines)
Can you hear me, can you hear me?

With all due respect to (the late) great, John Lennon....Pianoguy would also like to suggest that you listen to a song called: "JUST ONCE!"
The name of the singer/writer escapes me as I'm writing this...but the lyrics begin...
"I did my best, but I guess my best wasn't good enough...?"
JUST ONCE was released in the 80s.
There's quite a powerful message in this song too!

Here's another one. This song is amazing, I just love Dido to begin with. Anyhow, it deals with setting boundaries. And, quite honestly if there's one thing that I've learned over the last few years - it's that there's a point where you have to draw the line and say - this land is mine.
here you go:
From behind these walls I hear your song
Oh, sweet words
The music that you play lights up my world
The sweetest that I¡¦ve heard
Could it be that I¡¦ve been touched and turned
Oh Lord, please finally¡Kfinally things are changing
This land is mine but I¡¦ll let you rule
I let you navigate and demand
Just as long as you know¡Kthis land is mine
So find your home and settle in
Ohhh, I¡¦m ready to let you in
Just as long as we know¡Kthis land is mine
After all the battles and the wars
The scars and loss
I¡¦m still the queen of my domain
and feeling stronger now
The walls are down a little more each day
Since you came, finally¡Kfinally things are changing
Follow the days I¡¦ve travelled alone
In this cold and colorless place till now
It¡¦s what I had to pay
This land is mine and I let you rule
I let you navigate on demand
Just as long as you know¡Kthis land is mine
These aren't lyrics but a poem my friend gave me: It's called Let It Go!
LET IT GO...
There are people who can walk away from you.
And here when I tell you this!
When people can walk away from you: let them walk.
I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you.
I mean hang up the phone.
When people can walk away from you let them walk.
Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left.
The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us.
People leave you because they are not joined to you.
And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.
Let them go!
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person, it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dead!
You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spritual gift, I belive in good-gye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it.
Stop begging people to stay! Let them go!
*If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended
for your life, then you need to... LET IT GO!
*If you are holding onto past hurts and pains...LET IT GO!
*If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth...LET IT GO!
*If someone has angered you...LET IT GO!
*If you are holding onto some thoughts of evil and revenge...LET IT GO!
*If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction...LET IT GO!
*If you are holding onto a job that no longer meets your needs/talents...LET IT GO!
*If you have a bad attitude...LET IT GO!
*If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better...LET IT GO!
*If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new level...LET IT GO!
*If you're struggling with the healing of a broken relationship...LET IT GO!
*If you keep tring to help someone who won't try to help themselves...LET IT GO!
*If you're feeling depressed and stressed...LET IT GO!
*If there is a particular situation that you are used to handling yourself and God it saying "take your hands off of it,"...LET IT GO!
LET THE PAST BE THE PAST
FORGET THE FORMER THINGS
GOD IS DOING A NEW THING FOR 2007
LET IT GO!!!
Another friend gave me this one but I can't remember who sings it.
I had to walk away down the road just to clear my head
On another fun filled day, was doin' fine, but you're back instead.
Well I"m not the only one who saw you for just what you were.
You'd push me, but I'd keep tryin'.
I'd leave you, but you'd start cryin'.
But you won't fool me, I'm smarter than that!
chorus
You were the one who taught me what I don't need.
And I thank you-I thank you for that.
You were the one, that brought me to my senses.
And I thank you, now just leave me alone.
I had to drive away, far away, 'til you could not find me.
And it was a beautiful day.
Liberated and yu're far behind me.
What you did I'll never mention
Where you were, I don't want to know
I don't want to know.
But you won't fool me, I'm smarter than that!!
Chorus:
You were the one, who taught me what I don't need.
And I thank you-I thank you for that.
You were the one, that brought me to my senses.
And I thank you, now just leave me alone.
What you did I'll never mention.
Chorus:
You were the one, who taught me what I don't need.
And I thank you-I thank you for that.
You were the one, that brought me to my senses.
And I thank you, now just leave me alone.
Pianoguy found the title to the song he was trying to remember earlier. It's called "JUST ONCE" and it's performed by singer, James Ingram.
Actually...if you can find a copy of his CD: "THE POWER OF LOVE"---I think you'll discover at least a half a dozen tunes that are appropriate in your situation.
Here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

This one has given me a lot of empowerment to move on and realize that it's about survival. Do whatever you have to in order to survive... Whether its no contact or moving out, etc.
"Stand"- Rascal Flatts
You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless
Like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright
Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend, till you break
Cause its all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad you get strong
Wipe your hands shake it off
Then you Stand, Then you stand
Life's like a novel
With the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon
With only one way down
Take what you're given before its gone
Start holding on, keep holding on
Everytime you get up
And get back in the race
One more small piece of you
Starts to fall into place
Ooohhh
It is sooo good and everytime I hear it I just stop whatever I'm doing.
