Interfering with work

Have you ever felt so sad and depressed that it's caused you to take a day off from work? I called in sick today because I could barely move from being broken hearted. I'd gone into work before when I felt this way and was late to work cuz I couldn't stop crying in the car before getting out. How do you deal with this? I know for some of you work takes your mind off the sadness, but for me, it doesn't cuz I'm a nurse and the guy was a nurse (not at the same hospital) and being around sick and dying patients is very emotionally taxing in the first place. I hate calling in sick for this though and just wondering how you all deal, especially those of you in highly stressful jobs, too.
Guilty and sad

Welcome to the board hngrys7392,
Sometimes you just need to take a 'mental health' day, nothing wrong with that.
