I WAS that girl (sort of) - the one who had been with her boyfriend for 5 years, and then broke up with him to "see what else is out there." I knew it would be devastating for him, but I just kept telling myself that if there's ever a time in my life for me to be selfish, it was then. (I was 22 ... ouch. I dont think I can add much more than the other posters. All I can say is the positive in this is that you know what really stemmed the breakup or was the catalyst.
I think my ex was swayed by his immature friends. My ex is now 45, never married, had dated me for 4 years, and lead me on to believe we would be married, as he flew to Boston to purchase a large diamond ring after about a year and a half. My ex is now 45, never married, had dated me for 4 years, and lead me on to believe we would be married, as he flew to Boston to purchase a large diamond ring after about a year and a half.
