Moving Out

Here's my situation... I am 23 years old and my boyfriend is 24. We have been dating for almost 2 years. My last semester of college I only had two classes left to take (and i could take them at night) so instead of getting my own apt or moving home and commuting 45 minutes to work and classes, I decided to move in with my boyfriend. At first it was lots of fun living there. But now I feel more like a tennant than a girlfriend. I have been feeling this way for a while. I use the extra bedroom as my "closet" since he was already living there for 6 months when I moved in. Last month he told me his friend (home from the army) was going to move in so he could take classes at the local college. When I asked where he was going to live, my bf said my "closet" and I would have to move everything out, split it between the closet in the office (not a lot of room) and his closet (not a lot of room either). This makes me uncomfortable. Not only this, but since i moved in 1 year and 2 months ago, he never told his parents' that i live there. I always thought the reason he bought his own house was so his parents' couldn't make the rules for him anymore. On a side note, one time I came home on sunday from being away for a girl's weekend. Since we had no food in the house, I wanted to go food shopping, but his parents were coming over. When I was ready to walk out the door, my bf said i couldn't go b/c how would it look if i walked into the house with groceries. I said i didn't care, he should just tell them since this is his house and his rules. Many other things like that have happened in the past couple of months. Anyway, his friend is moving in the end of august. I have made the decision to move out. My first impulse was to move out the weekend before his friend was moving in. But now I'm wondering if I should do it sooner.
My question or dilema is...I would like not to break up, just live apart and give each other the space we may need. But still visit on weekends. What do you suggest is the best way to handle this? Any help would be appreciated. I hope that after I move out, he will realize how much he took me for granted.
Thanks for any insight.

Have you talked to him about it? What is his input? I would say talk first, then decide when is the best time to move out. It also depends, is the place where you plan on moving going to be there at a later time? If not, move now. I can totally see where you just want to live apart but still remain in the relationship. Believe it or not, it makes sense to me. : ) Let us know what you decide.
