I have a weird situation on my hands. My ex's grandma recently passed away and the wake/funeral are coming up.

Hi,

I think there is no "perfect" way to handle this.

You don't have to go to the wake no matter how close you were to her grandma*.

Hi Rossjack. I agree with your dad. I think you should go. In my opinion, it is more about the support you can show her and less about how it might make you feel (maybe a little awkward, temporarily). If she was close to her grandma, it will mean so much to her. Plus, I think it's the classy thing to do. Maybe you can attend the wake with your parents rather than go to the funeral alone?

Considering how far you have come, I would not go. I dont think you need to go, there are many ways to offer condolences without having to be there in person. SEnding the card was a wonderful gesture and as someone else suggested- if you feel you want to do more, you can send flowers.
