I went to Borders and was overwhelmed with all the books in the self help section. Can someone with some therapeutic experience be it a therapist or have been in therapy give some examples of typical home work statements or strategies to improve your self esteem? Thanks very much.

Don't know so much with the helping boost your self-esteem. However, 2 very good books that helped me feel better after my very rough break-up was "He's Just Not That Into You" by Greg somebody (sorry I don't remember the last name) and "Why?" by Billy Graham's daughter (sorry I don't remember the first name!) If you can't find the books I'm talking about, reply to this message (I'll get an email notification) and I will find them and look for you!
Hope this helps a little bit :)

I still battle with this problem myself everyday.

One approach my therapist told me was to think about my positives and my strengths. Everybody has strengths, right? When my therapist asked me to name some of my strengths, I couldn't think of any! That's how bad I was! *L*

You could list the littlest thing too like, "I'm a darn great Scrabble player!"

I try to keep a list of my positives/strengths in my head, but I think it might work even better written down, so you can reread the list over and over again.

Hope this helped!

Take care of yourself.

Maybe it's NOT my self esteem. I am a great mom, sucess at work, super friend and very talented in many areas. It's men that was a toughie for me. BUT I AM TURNING that around with positive affirmations!
