I got mugged last night and everything I own, ID, credit cards is gone. I had to call the ex this morning to see where my passport is (he had left a VM last week that he would be shipping it) and he still has it. I'm supposed to be flying to my parents' for a family reunion Wednesday and I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm going to throw up, I'm so sick over all of this.

I'm very sorry that happened, it must have been very frightening. Take everything one step at a time.

Hopefully you reported it to the police immediately so they can already be looking for whomever assualted you. Also, doing that helps hold off the credit card company and the bank just in case they tried to use your credit cards or debit cards, you won't be responsible for those purchases and the bank can freeze out anyone trying to use your old debit card. If you haven't reported it to the police do that right away.

Call your credit card companies and cancel your cards, they'll probably need that police report, so get on that. Have them overnight you some new ones with new account numbers, you have time, do it today so you can have them by Tuesday.

Go to the driver's license bureau and take your police report with you, get a new license/ID. They'll assign new numbers, I believe.

Call a minister, a priest, a counselor, a friend, to help you through the emotional fallout.

Do NOT call on your ex for emotional or any other kind of support.

Good luck,

I am so very sorry that this happened to you. I would agree that you need to notify all the proper companies as to what happened. You must have been so very frightened. My thoughts are with you. I hope that you are still able to make your trip.
