What should I do?

It has been almost 3 weeks since my ex broke up with me and we have not spoken a word since, not a phone call, email or even a text. When he broke it off there was no mention of staying friends either now or in the furture, I just got out of the car and left not even really saying good-bye. Yesterday out of no where his best friend, we work together, comes by my office with no warning and wanted to talk. Prior to my relationship with my ex and his best friends we talked at work functions but I wouldn't have called us friends. We obviously got much closer during the relationship becuase we all soent a lot of time together, anyways, so he starts making small talk, I thought he had a work issue to discuss and then he says 'so now that you have broken up with him, we're not friends anymore?' Then I said (which I now regret)'well he broke up with me but whatever' and said that I just haven't seen him around and have been busy (which is the truth). So then he goes on to say that we should 'do lunch sometime' and wants to have lunch on Friday. I don't know what to do...I don't know what to think. How is that his best friend can come and talk to me and he can't even pick up the phone or even send an email?!? Now I'm obviously going crazy wondering if there is anything behind this and I don't want to get my hopes up with my crazy irrational thoughts about all this but it's hard. My sister and another close friend both think I should just go and not bring up the ex or the relationship and just see what happens...what should I do???

Regardless of your current situation, if you were not really close with his best friend, I would be wary. I would still go to lunch and not mention anything about your ex-. Just be aware that he may fish for information, or it may be just what it really is, just lunch with no strings attached.
Best of luck.
