Why No Contact is Great!?

I met my Ex tonite at a social event. I thought he would not go there by himself since he knows only 2 people there one of them is ME but I was wrong. He did show up. It had been 10 days with NC and I thought I was really over him. But when we met things were so awkward to say the least. He still wants to talk to me in the same way as if we are together or at least very close when I prefer to be a little more formal and distant with him. So anyway I acted really distant and could see he was a little sad and disappointed but I think he should get used to the idea that we are not as close as b4. I will see him again this Sat at my place where I m having a party with another friend. I might also see him on Friday at a common friend's party but at least on Friday I can totally avoid him since there will be over 60 guests and we will get lost in the crowd I hope!!
I m lucky I will be away for 5 weeks next week kuz I can tell all these meetings are setting back my effort to move on! I m sure he is struggling as well!! but he is the depressed type so he enjoys it probably. The good thing is that he will be moving to NY in few months so by the time I m back from my trip and with the Xmas holiday travels... he will probably be around for another 2 months and then will disappear from my world!
He wants to stay friends which is much easier when he is in NY kuz he wont be poping over to my place everytime I call to say hello my friend! By the way the reason we broke up was that he MIGHT be moving to NY in 4 months. Then it hit me NY is only 6 hours by car and he loves to drive!!! so if he really wanted to be together we could have made it but I think it is more his committment issues masking under the relocation pretext...
