About the new boards? [long] (m)

I just went to one of our CM's for help! I'll post a bit of our IM messages.

ccook462: Hi, Zanna! How are you handling this new board situation? I have many complaints re it over on EMA. Got any suggestions as to how to respond? In fact, I'm not too thrilled with it myself! I haven't even posted much because I'm not too sure about it yet and I roll with new stuff pretty easily.

CM: I'd suggest members come play on the Welcome board, browse thru the Answers posted there in the Answers folder, and check out the new board FAQ

CM: and remind them that this is only day 3 of the change

ccook462: There's talk of finding a new forum.

CM: we're still tweaking things behind the scenes, making changes, improvements and responding to member concerns

ccook462: cool, I'll let em know! They'd appreciate hearing it!

CM: well, they may discuss it on the board, but anything that posts a link and an invite to join will be removed, so encourage them to discuss that in email if they are serious, but ask them to please give it a chance

ccook462: okie dokie

CM: thanks

CM: I'll try to peek in there when I can

ccook462: awe, nothing there I can't handle with the proper info under my belt. There's no actual revolt or turn to violence yet. :-! Mutiny is not yet under way!

CM: rofl

CM: well that's encouraging

ccook462: Glad to lighten your day with a laugh any time!

CM: thanks Chris

CM: things will get better

CM: they're working on speeding it up

CM: polishing up the interface, etc.

ccook462: cool beans to all those folks behind the scenes doing the hard, nasty work!

CM: yeah

So, I'll look up those board links and post 'em here soon! I'm just as bamboozled here as you guys are. ;-)

PS: Got those links lined up, now just gotta get 'em here!

Chris... I know that the feature of more active posts (receiving more replies) is something helpful on some of the OTHER boards but on our board, this feature takes away from the continuity of conversation.

Plus, the fact that the clock is messed up and the fact that once we read messages the word *new* doesn't go away... it's hard to SEE when a message was posted or if we've already read it or even if other replies have been added to those we've already read.

Anyway, would it be possible for THIS board to leave the post sequence as they are posted and to NOT have the posts shifted based on the number of replies a post is receiving!?!?!?

Also, can the post *numbering* system and TITLE only option be brought back? The numbering made it simple to reference previous posts in replies and the title only option made it easy for n/t messaging... Of course they would need to make the title bar longer then the current 3 word statement!

IMO, the search feature is useless because when I entered *from stre2001* I expected to see all the posts I've made (at least recently). What showed up were about 10 posts by other people... and only 1 from me and that was a post I made a YEAR AGO! ¿¿¿¿¿¿

Sherry, I'm referring your questions to one of the higher ups as I can't answer them. Either she'll get back to me or shew'll contact you. Maybe some of these issues could be brought up on one of the boards I posted links to? Why don't you check it out.

BTW, the more I use this new system, the more I understand it. And, for the clock, you can set it to your own time zone! Just click on the board settings link above the board title. Makes it much easier for me to figure out!

Sherry, is this the post you were referring to? I responded the same day.

It isn't the number of responses that cause a string to hit the top of the board again. Any string that gets a new response gets sent to the top. Such as this one. I started it on the 28th. Here it is four days later and it's up on top again.

Hope this helps.

PS: Did you ever try any of those links in my original post on this string?
