accessing boards on Android phone

My main avenue to visitng the boards is my phone but the boards are basically unusable that way - can't see replies, can't PM, can't even log in.

Does everyone have the same problem with an Android phone and are there any remedies?

I REALLY miss EAS!!!!!

Hi Songs,

Yes I too have the exact same issues with an iphone, and it is also my main avenue to access the boards, as it will be for so many others. It is now three weeks since this farcical switchover began, surely the glitches should have been resolved by now? I wonder how many users they have lost because of this. I know my time line for responding to threads that neither the poster or responder can read is running out. Cry

Mobile phones use a different type of browser than a regular computer.

I am sure that the powers that be, (that made the decisions to do what they have) never gave a thought to the amount of posters and readers who do so on a mobile phone.

I would think that we are seeing what is the best that we are going to see.  Too long for repairs to be made, and lack of communication to the masses tells it all.  It won't be long before the whole thing folds for lack of interest.

We only miss what could have been. I know I don't miss what it really was.

Well, Rather, I am not a techie person, far from it, but my feeling is the same as you, after 3 weeks I would imagine this is going to be as good as it gets, and it does appear that we have lost many posters, and it may well be that it's because they use their phones to access the boards and are not able to log in, see replies and post, making the whole experience pointless. And that is very very sad, because the boards were very active, very successful, and they have been a lifeline for me and many others. I don't have anyone to talk to about my A except you guys, and without you I am completely alone, and If my resolve weakens, or if my xAP does one of his favourite tricks and appears outside my work and these boards are not here, well I will be totally dependent on myself to get myself through it, without any advice, support or guidance, and that's a scary thought, and it's a real shame.

I would like to ask Thia what she is saying to people in the PMs that she is sending them, such as to Lookingforhappy. Are you giving them advice as to how to use the boards? If so, please could you post your advice publicly so that everyone can see it.

Thanks x

Hey Soglad!

I agree with you and RBM, I don't know how the shambles that is, will be fixable and absolutely the powers that be gave no thought to the numbers that use their phones. Anyhooo Sweetie will you send me a pm if you have that facility? I can respond to pm's but not start a new one?!?!  I have tried and tried to start one to you but can't and the old soglad pm's went missing when you did....... Thanks Hun

Ok I know this is a bold thought but can we brainstorm another place on the web we can go to make a new EAS home - like honeybees do when their hive is destroyed - we need Clarity our Queen Bee to help us. I am not willing to give up on EAS.

I think Thia responds to some with a PM because she knows they cannot see the responses.

I was told, too, that Headquarters are in NYC...perhaps the storm has delayed some of the ironing out.

Hang in there, folks.

What I ask or talk about in pms about the changes.

Mostly I will ask what type of browser and info they use. I tell them about the zoom solution. I have found if I make my browser too small I too can only see the first post.

I make suggestions and let them know that the detailed pm's they send back I put on the list for the techs to look at and also let Jess know what is going on. I have been keeping them apprised of the not being able to see pms - and pm formatting issues ie: no paragraphs, as well as no mobile access and different browser issues. I have notified the tech team about the not being able to get emails when there is a new post. We have talked in pm how to float an important topic so if a member wants to see one, like DYK, then they will always find it at the top of their list.

And yes, because of the hurricane the NY offices have been hard to get to for the tech staff. They are using a generator because of the power issue, and if that doesn't say how important iVillage and their members is to us all, I am not sure what will express it.

Let me know if ANY of you are still having issues. The mobile issue is being addressed, or was, till this hurricane came along and messed up so many peoples lives.

Take care and remember I will answer your pms and your concerns, if you share them with me.
