So many times we've discussed here that ENDING the A is like ending an addiction.

Addicting personality- yep thats me!

I smoked for 14 years then quit for almost 2; got my heart broke and started smoking again. I like to drink....a weekend thing with friends. When I was younger I was addicted to pills...then turned into a mental addiction to weed, and then A's.

I like to indulge; I often say with me its all or nothing because I cant just have a taste I have to have the whole thing.

OK - heavy psych stuff to follow -

I thought I had an addictive personality. I displayed a lot of addictive and OCD behaviours. Until the light was shed on the fact that the emptiness I was trying to fill up with all kinds of things stemmed from me wanting to have the relationship I never had with my father (he passed away too young).

I underwent hypnotherapy, where I had a chance to say 'goodbye' to my dad, and get some closure. Ever since then, my addictive tendencies have pretty much evaporated along with my anger and resentment at xAP.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that in some cases affairs and 'addictions' may just be a symptom of trying to fill a void for something else in your life that's unrelated, as in my case. My xAP represented my 'father' in my subconscious, and I couldn't let go of him, I was totally addicted to him.

My 2 cents and you may think I am a whack job (lol) but I am quite content with my life and I hardly ever think about xAP anymore.

Great thread!

Yes when I ended my A I noticed that both my eating and spending went a little overboard!

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
