The benefits of a Therapist

Reading everyone's post makes me scratch my head about how crazy some of us (certainly me) have been living our lives.

This board is a great help, but I'm not sure it's going to be enough.
Would people share their experiences with therapists, both positive and negative. I have some therapy experience from college and grad school (long time ago and very different issues) but how does a therapist help us understand what is best for us?

Hell, maybe I should run-off with my xAP. There must be a reason I was so recklessly willing for so long to risk so much to be with her. It certainly wasn't drugs or alcohol. Oh yeah, its the fog. But doesn't that incredibly marginalize our xAPs? They weren't all lying scum. Mine is smart, interesting, fun and beautiful. But a lying cheater, just like me.

Throughout history people has been totally blinded by sex. People sitting on top of the world have been brought down by sex since the beginning of time. And they knew better too.
