Im going to collect some links that I feel represent CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) as well as I can understand - Also TU had discussed previously how therapists can incorporate CBT into their therapy - she may have something to speak to on the subject.
Im going to go find some helpful info & links & be back - also with MY own personal thoughts about CBT as it compared to other traditional therapy that I received after the deaths of my family members.
Ok - I highlighted in RED the items that I feel set CBT apart from the therapy that I personally experienced. I think that CBT worked so well with me and my personality for the following reasons:
Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart... Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens. I started looking inside and went NC October 15, 2010

My first session with my therapist involved my taking a battery of tests - which EXPOSED my irrational thinking and beliefs (ie: perfectionism, need for approval, etc) much like the questions in the above link. Once he analyzed the results of my tests - my therapist knew what IRRATIONAL thinking we had to focus on and which TOOLS and TECHNIQUES he would use to teach me NEW thinking.

ahhahah! Oh yes you can!!! Are you a gemini? Or what's your sign? :) Wow. That sounded SOOO cheesy! Did you answer those questions on the questionnaire? Oh man! I did. Im still thinking just as irrationally as ever. But if you did take it...It really shows how CBT takes those "thoughts" and reframes them. Then down at the bottom it gives suggestions. It told me to get in the car and go to the hospital. ahhaaha do not pass go! do NOT collect $200! :) Oh well! something to work on! xoxo
