I just wanted to chime in on your thread to share how happy I am to hear that you are in such a good place, and are taking steps to understand what contributed to your trip on the train to LaLa Land.
One important thing to remember about therapist is this: they are NOT neutral observers. They may not know you or your partner, family or friends, but therapists ALL work from assumptions about how the world works, how people ought to behave, and how to "achieve" the results that you are looking for. I share this as a warning because it takes some time to figure these things out and it can be a potential DISASTER if you end up with the wrong therapist. I have worked with many people who had totally given up on therapy because they didn't like the first person they went to. I will try and find the thread about therapy for you and bump it up. Remember, therapists are all too human, and often go into the "healing" profession motivated from their own hurts, and wanting to assist in the healing process of others. I have never met a therapist that didn't have their own therapist (-:
All this to say, if it isn't a love connection the first session, give it some time, and if it still isn't what you want it to be ... please keep searching until you find the connection you are looking for to assist.
Equally important for you to remember Mom, is that sometimes the BEST fit with a therapist is the one that pisses you off the most!
