confronting In-laws about my affair...

Hello everyone. Recently my husband found out about my affair with OM, and so far we are managing to slowly work things out and mend our relationship. However, his family, particularly his mother is upset about the whole thing, and that I hurt my husband this way. He wants us to talk, but I have a feeling that I will have to be the one to say something first. So what do I say, I have no idea what to do, I mean I've never been in this situation before. I don't want to just call her and say "hey i'm sorry i cheated on your son" because that doesn't seem sincere at all, and I really truly am sorry I did it even though my husband doesn't believe me. Please help me because I really feel like this is the end of my marriage and I'm trying to fix things but it's hard when I have to deal with his family which I can't stand anyway. And his family is very important to him, I'm in one of those situations where I didn't just marry him, I married his whole family. Well anyway I'm rambling, but I would really appreciate any thoughts, comments, or suggestions anyone has.
Thanks.

I don't know how you should talk to MIL, but you husband needs to tell Mom and anyone else who knows to not tell anyone elsr if he wants to rebuild, the fewer who know the easier it will be.
I would try humble and contrite, maybe a three way meeting brokered by your husband or a meeting with the MC who can give her a how to help lesson.
Good luck

My heart goes out to you. If you want to save your M then try and find something to say to your MIL. I am in the same position however my H is not willing to work out anything like he was in the beginning. Then yesterday he told his mother everything. My MIL and I were close and now I know I will never get the opportunity to apologize to her or explain to her what happened. I can't give you any advice but wanted you to know that I am here sending you HUGS and you are in my thoughts.
Good luck and let me know how it goes.
