Our lives seem to parallel in many ways except I'm much older.
As I read your post, the part that jumped out at me was he and you discussing him leaving his W.
Hi Lifeafter, welcome to endings, I agree you did the smartest thing to end your A as you rightly say A's are destructive. No doubt you will miss xMM (and the addiction of the A) however if you can go completely NC (no contact) it will help you let go more quickly.

Good for you in ending this destructive/addictive cycle. It will never be more than stolen moments and pillow talk. Anything said during intimacy is done so in the heat of the moment and

if you have read the HL here you have already seen the same tried and true old excuses and behaviors.ie: you go all out thinking about making everything perfect and special. mm's love it. mm's eat it up. then: they usually pick just this moment to give some spewage sewage about 'recommittment to their w's" , 'just being together, 'being with you is special' 'i cant lose you' i cant leave the w/m: because of kids, money, custody, etc etc (btw: we are sadder and wiser when a d day hits and those words become a truism as the previously professiing of love xmm suddenly becomes quite viscious and throws his 'best friend' under the proverbial bus (see d-day thread, below)
