Ever wish you could just take it back?

I've read through these threads and seen a lot of "Wish I hadn't sent that email" posts.

A friend on another board recommended this to me...

pointofmail.com

Free download for like 3 weeks, then its pretty cheap afterwards..

BUT here's the cool thing, once you send an email, you can
-See when they read it and how many times
-EDIT the email, taking out embarrassing words or phrases you have thought better of sending
-DELETE the email. It will still show that you sent them an email, but all they will see in the body is "This email has been deleted".

Just a thought for you guys... Good luck in staying strong in ending your affairs!

Hope you all find the happiness you deserve!!

Hiya Cherishing,

<<>>

Oh, if it can be done, I'm quite certain he could tell me several methods. He works for a well known antivirus company and therefore combats & nullifies unbelievably nasty pc cooties daily.

Thing is, I wouldn't understand him even if he took several lifetimes to explain it to me (if he's Techno-Wizz then I am certainly Techno-Dunce) and I probably couldn't cut'n'paste his answer since it would likely infringe all kinds of laws which would certainly imperil my ability to work within my chosen field...

I don't doubt that it's possible. In fact, I think SB offered to email someone to demonstrate, perhaps ask her to try it on an email to you?

<<>>

Have to admit I wondered about this, too. I guess it would be a matter of who got there first, the recipient or the sender who wanted to amend text already sent.

<<>>

Sounds good to me, poppet!

Wishing you strength & peace,
Posie

Pointofmail also gives you a feature that tells you when they fwd it by showing who's read it via IP address, city and state.
It allows you to set a delete on the email so that even after they've read it, it will automatically delete at such a date and time, and with editing, you can edit it even after they've read it.

I don't use any of these features so I don't know how they work. Mostly I made this post so that someone would be able to cancel an email if they wanted to. I think that's fair. Not unethical or immoral. Afterall, it was your email to begin with.

Oh, and Posie, I don't use it on my work emails. Since they have Outlook, I can do rreciepts (although I hate them!) They clutter my already bulging inbox ;) With POM, I have one page that tells me what's been delivered and when and if its been read... without having to xfer my mail via pop acct to outlook and attach rreciepts. But I'm a techno-geek..... ;) Everyone needs a hobby!

Just wanted to thank you for trying to help the "Ooooops" crowd out.

You can explain your contxt in another email since you are already to the point of writng emails again with the X-OM/MM. I don't why you would need a separate program to do that. I am not convinced.

Hi Opal,
Its not for everyone. I just know some people wish they could take certain words back after they've said them and this can help them do that without having to write again.

Anyone ever seen the movie "swingers"? Cliff notes version, guy distraught after a breakup with an LTR meets a girl in a bar who gives him her number. He calls her the next day and leaves a message, hangs up and rethinks what he said... He ends up calling 7 times in a row leaving messages trying to clarify what he'd said. Finally on the 8th call, she picks up and tells him never to call again.
Its an exaggeration, sure. But just a friendly tip hoping to help someone save a little pride.
Sort of like having an edit on your posts on here, rather than posting multiple times to cluttering up the board.

Yes, sund, I am somewhat of an insomniac ;) Always online, unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately... guess it depends on what I'm typing!
