Flowers . . . gross

My birthday is tomorrow, and today our receptionist delivered flowers to my desk. Red roses.
I was excited for approximately 30 seconds . . . until I pulled the card and read who they were from.
Yup. XAP.
Last year at this time, I would have been THRILLED to get flowers from him for my birthday!
This year, I wanted to throw them and the card right in the trash. Unfortunately, I work in a fairly open office and that would have looked a bit crazy to my coworkers if I had tossed out this beautiful arrangement.
So I slipped the card into my purse, pushed the flowers off to the side of my desk, and went on with my work. Tomorrow or the next day, I'll discreetly toss them into some random garbage can outside my office because, honestly, the sight of them makes me sick.
Funny how as time passes, fishing attempts like this make you feel disrespected and disgusted rather than flattered and all warm inside. But I did feel disgusted :(. It was just a reminder of how low I allowed myself to stoop to get involved with another woman's husband :( This is not how I hoped to celebrate a new year and new chapter in my life, and I'm so angry that he's not respecting that.
Feeling bummed today . . . I want him to just go away and leave me alone. :(

Lisa,
Happy Birthday!!
Happy Birthday, LisaD.
You CAN have a clean start for the new year of your life, in spite of the flowers. He can only occupy as much time and space in your new year as you let him; and it seems like you're not letting him. New year, new you, new perspective. Own it!
If you haven't pitched the offending flowers yet, may I suggest that you reclaim them for Good by giving them to an old folks home or some other organization that will make you feel good.
Have a great day!
Best,
Dee
Lovin' the idea of giving the flowers to someone in need! Lemonaide out of very sour lemons!
