Grieving over a lost A partner

My H's EA partner from what I can tell is not responding to him the way he would have imagined she would so now he feels like he lost his friend and his fun (EA) and is angry with me (he did not say that to me but his behavior says so) and I think its because he was found out which set off a chain of events which led to him telling her how he feels and she saying she did not share his dream of being together. Ok, tough enough for me to deal with the fact he wants to be with someone else, but now he is behaving as if its my fault. We have our good and bad moments and I can tell when something in a movie or our conversation triggers a though of her as he becomes cold and witholding of affection, sex, attention whatever. Now, telling him off won't work, I just need to either bide my time while he goes through this or find a way to stop caring -- to protect myself. Does this sound familiar to anyone. How long can it take to get over an A partner --if it never became physical but was deeply emotional.. Hard one I know but I could use some thoughts ..I am a hurtin' woman.
