So I am in major be-otch mode today, actually for about 6 days now and to be honest, I LOVE IT, it helps me to forget about him, to not care, to not think about him and to ignore him, it makes NC/LC so much easier.

Howdy, Life-
Would you be concerned that somebody would notice that you were not the usual life of the party if you skipped X's b-day? Well, if so, let me assure you that nobody will notice. People always think that people notice or speculate about them, when... actually.... 99.9% of the people is this world are so self-centeredly focused that if it's not "about them", they don't know it exist! ha. And the .1% that notice, DON'T CARE.
So, skip that damn party and don't think twice about it.

Hi Life-
Ugh. I certainly don't envy you. I struggled just knowing it was xap's birthday and didn't have to deal with a party going down in my proximity. If I were
NC/LC since January 28, 2010

Hi Deeulta
I am new/very old here.
That's the ticket....Dr.'s appointment at the time your company usually celebrates brithday's....
Good Luck!
Yes - stay away!
I remember my xAP actually saying to me, in a really gentle way when we were first fumbling through NC (the first attempt), "Can you protect yourself enough to not care what our friends, colleagues think if we don't sit, laugh, eat together?". It was perhaps the one time where I can truly say he was putting my needs front and center. Listen, don't go. Practice indifference. Who cares? Really? Is it worth it? For his birthday party? You have nothing to prove to him. The reality is you're struggling with having to go - so who are you trying to perform for? Is the performance worth hurting yourself for?
Hugs,
TU.

Hi LIGA,
Your post shows progress. You are coming here first before making a decision and asking for suggestions and input.
You’ve gotten a lot of great suggestions.
Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are probably right. A parrot can repeat what it has learned but the mark of true intelligence is applying what is learned.
