i have to recommend this book to you: "Feeling Good, The New Mood Therapy," by David D. Burns, MD.

As you know, i've been throwing every tactic out there hoping something would stick and start to make sense to me and this book has. This book is all about changing the way you think--ridding yourself of negative thoughts--that will help alleviate depression.

I have been working hard on this book: there are tons of tools Burns offers. I have chosen a few that are really working for me.

I HAD no idea--imagine that!--that i could be in charge of my thoughts and that I ALONE had the power to change negative thoughts. I have always thought i should be a victim to my thoughts and that avoiding them or turning them around to positive thoughts, was somehow cheating or not being true to yourself.

Please check it out, Mo. I think it will help you--as it has started to help me.

xoxo

I'm reading "How to be an Adult in Relationships" -- I'm over a year affair free & in a wonderful developing relationship -- both of us available! I think it's wonderful & it's really speaking to me now about making choices about my life and living mindfully in this heroic adventure of life and developing intimacy with another.

Before, when I was finding my own life, away from a bad marriage & later from the A, I also liked "Codependent No MOre" by Melody Beatty. I also liked "Don't Call That Man" and "The Commitment Cure" both by Rhonda Findling -- but honestly, I think it's a matter of being in yourself and checking books out at the time when you need them -- the one(s) that seems to hit home with you is the one to buy & read!

Hugs, Clarice. My apologies for not responding yesterday to your post. I was just "telling" Dharma that I haven't felt much like participating in life the past few days, but this too shall pass, right?

Anyway, I'm all about ridding myself of negative thinking. My recommendation to you would be to check out Wayne Dyer or Abraham Hicks - both awesome ways to begin generating positive energy (which I desperately need some of these days). Both are advocates of a metaphysical approach to manifesting positive energy in your life.

In recovery, we talk in terms of Pavlov's dog. At first, you may just recognize the negative thought and replace it with something positive. Or you experience a negative situation and just FORCE yourself to respond in a positive healthy fashion. Eventually, I am told, this will become second nature.

Aw, heck, Clarice. I'm just feeling down today. I had a really intense T session this morning and I'm like a wet dish rag right now. So much going on in my head and I'm trying to quiet the entire thing down to file someone's bankruptcy petition...

Love, Mo.

Although I haven't read this book, it sounds like some of the ones I have studied for my "Metaphysics" courses; Actually, I just wrote a response to a poster in "All Sides of an Affair" #88 in the "Truth, Gift or "Gift?" thread, if you'd like to read it. I was telling the poster that it appears he is on the road to self-awareness, and that is exactly what you are talking about. It really DOES have everything to do with how a person redirects their thinking. Good luck to you in pursuing your "Truth."

Someone recently told me that "when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."

Pretty wild, huh? That's what I'm searching for, a way to maintain a positive attitude, even if I'm faking it much of the time. I've got some very tough issues to deal with in my real life, and there are many days when I plaster on a smile with a coat of pale pink lipstick and head out the door convinced that I can make it through another day. And it works!!!!!

A friend just gave me a package on how to turn your life around in 30 days (sounds like a cheap sales job to me, but whatever...)inspired by Abraham Hicks. I haven't committed to it yet but from looking through it it seems to be about meditating on what you want, visualizing yourself surrounded by the circumstances you want to create, and taking one step every day toward getting what you want. So if I'm posting from the French Riveria in July, you'll know it worked!!!! LOL. Love, Mo.

Sounds like a plan and even though many people might say, ""Hogwash", it DOES work. But IMO, your attitude is what will make you a winner. This positive approach will jumpstart any change you desire to make in your life. Good luck m'lady. You are on the right path...
