Hello and Happy Monday to all my lovely EAS family,

I was just at the end of my travels last Monday, and was unsure if I was going to keep this going anymore. But, just a few moments ago I received an email from a friend with a song attached and it brought me to tears. I did not even know where they were coming from...but it reminded me once again that Music really is such a huge part of my soul. And so with that as motivation I decided to bring this back...and hope that it is here to stay.

For you newbies, lurkers, or drive by types, I started Musical Monday's last year because so often music really is the soundtrack of my life (sunshine of your love this should be right up your ally...loved your post the other day!) I relate feelings, hopes, dreams, fears and everything in between with the lyrics and melodies of music that surrounds me. I always loved the thread in the Healing Library about songs that move us forward in our healing (which Michelle recently bumped up...thanks!), but wanted to share on a more regular basis how music was relating to my healing timeline. Also as a lover of such an eclectic range of music I always love sharing it with others and knowing what songs were speaking to them along their journey. So I started Musical Mondays in response to Lolly's Gratituesday threads, and Zenesday soon followed. And while the wonderful Bodhi has been great at being consistent, I have slacked as of late. I also chose Monday's because they can often be tough days for us enders. For many of us it was that day that we were able to make contact again with XAP after they had to engage in their "Real Life" all weekend long. And also, because lets face it... sometimes Mondays just suck! And nothing brings a smile to my face, or can brighten a day more than sharing music with so many beautiful people!

So with that I submit to you two entries for this week. The first is to make up for last week and is intended to wish you all a very happy "AFFAIR FREE" 2011! This is probably my favorite version of the classic "Auld Lang Syne" sung by two Scottish musicians Mairi Campbell and Dave Francis. Not only is it hauntingly beautiful, but I was exposed to it through the movie Sex and the City (see I told you I could fit in here) :) And for me it is one of the most powerful scenes in the whole movie. And when Carrie meets Miranda and tells her "You are not alone" as the clock hits midnight was heavy on my mind this year. I know that many people around here were reaching out to each other and connecting with each other to ensure that we all knew we were not alone. A hard New Year for me to bring in personally, the first in 11 years without my W, I was so comforted to know that even if I felt isolated....I was not alone. To each of you who kept me connected while I was traveling I say Thank You from the bottom of my heart. I am so proud of each and every one of you who made it through the holidays and held on to the vision of a better life for yourself. Whether your pain came from missing XAP, or missing a spouse, or reflections on a year miss-spent, know that you made it....and next year's holidays WILL be so different. If you have not heard it before....take a listen. (I wont post the lyrics to this one cause we all know them so well).

Hello!

While this song isn't directly related to affairland, I guess I LOVE it because my daughter and I just sang it Loud & Hard on her way to dance class. And as I looked at her face in my rear view mirror, full of bright sunshine beaming from within her, I wanted time to stop.

I want her to always KNOW (because her MOM forgot it about herself along the way to losing herself) the following:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjhCEhWiKXk&feature=fvw

Oh her eyes, her eyes
Make the stars look like they’re not shining
Her hair, her hair
Falls perfectly without her trying

She’s so beautiful
And I tell her every day

Yeah I know, I know
When I compliment her
She wont believe me
And its so, its so
Sad to think she don’t see what I see

But every time she asks me do I look okay
I say

When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are

Her nails, her nails
I could kiss them all day if she’d let me
Her laugh, her laugh
She hates but I think its so sexy

She’s so beautiful

And I tell her every day

Oh you know, you know, you know
Id never ask you to change
If perfect is what you’re searching for
Then just stay the same

So don’t even bother asking
If you look okay
You know I say

When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are

The way you are
The way you are
Girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are

When I see your face
There’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing
Just the way you are
And when you smile,
The whole world stops and stares for awhile
Cause girl you’re amazing
Just the way you are

Thanks Foggy for bringing the beat back to us.

I've missed Musical Mondays Foggy!

I listened to the soundtrack from the documentary The Cove all day. No lyrics, but beautiful music. Absolutely incredible movie too.

I think it was sunshine who gave that great idea about singing these songs to OURSELVES!
