Incredible story, nolove. Thank you for sharing. I think many of us have similar issues, which is why we allowed ourselves to get involved in our affairs. We are not bad people...just "damaged" as you said.
Best of everything to you as you continue to heal and to discover the real you.
Are we sisters? I swear we had the same mother. ;-) Listen, my mommy issues damn near lost me everything when she was alive. Had I gone to therapy back then, I don't just *Know, * but would bet my life savings that I would not have had two failed M's and a late in life A. Seriously, do yourself the biggest favor you can and find an individual therapist, one preferably trained in CBT. (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). He/she will teach you how to destroy all those negative/destructive tapes playing in your head that started in childhood. Do a google search to learn more about this technique.
Thanks for sharing your story, as painful as it is. There is a wonderful, bright, compassionate person inside of you that needs to learn how to love herself.
You're right, forgiving isn't cut and dry. And when the scars run as deeply as yours, it's even harder. Thanks so much for sharing your story. You are already on the right path by recognizing your behavior. :)

Iddy,
Sorry to hear you too had a difficult childhood and trouble with your mother.
Love,
Iddy is so right about CBT and I'm glad to hear that you're so proactive about following up on her advice.
