Well I thought I would post because last week I posted about what God had done in my life, and how I was finally free from an addiction. I feel it is important to also tell you that yes, God still has done a great work in my life, and yes, I am still free from that addiction,

I am sending you a cyber hug. I too found comfort in becoming a Christian. When I had my A, I also suffered from depression. I would go days where I could hardly get out of bed. The A only made my depression much worse. The high and lows that you are feeling really aren't about your xap. There is something inside of you that keeps you drawn to the deceitful relationship. It's not about your xap, he is JAM and therefore is not responsible for filling the void within you and keeping you happy. Even with prayer and believing in God we must do the hard work to determine why we put ourselve into toxi relationships. A healthy person doesn't need any other person to make them happy. Remember God gives us free will to determine if we are going to follow him or we are going to give in to our flesh.
We cannot blame Satan for many temptations that we face. We should not blame Satan for our giving in to those temptations. We decide for ourselves whether or not we fall because of the temptation. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” (James 1:14-15) If we resist Satan we won’t succumb to temptation. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) The devil can not make you do anything.
That being said, let us look at the question you actually asked. What is meant by “the flesh” as concerns sin.
The apostle Paul is the one writer who most uses the word to mean, in the words of the Greek lexicon used by www.blueletterbible.org, “mere human nature, the earthly nature of man apart from divine influence, and therefore prone to sin and opposed to God.” Paul especially argues in Romans, chapters 6-8, that we have two competing natures, the flesh and the spirit. When we follow our fleshly nature we are not following God, but our lower desires. In chapter seven he says that our spirit actually desires that we do good, but sometimes we let our flesh take over and then we do what we don’t spiritual want to do. That is sin.
Hi LAS,
Sorry you are having a rough day. It is normal to have these feelings when you are early in the ending process.
Whether you think you can or you think you can't you are probably right. A parrot can repeat what it has learned but the mark of true intelligence is applying what is learned.
