I read about this on another message board here... I've been wearing a rubber band on my wrist, and anytime I start obsessing about my XOM, wanting to contact him, whatever -- I snap it hard against my wrist to deter me. Ouch. I think it's working! :)

Maybekatie: I wear a rubberband around my wrist too and do the same thing. It's as if we can take so much emotional pain, that we need physical pain to remind us how bad it really was/is.

Some days, I have to snap alot. Others, i don't seem to have to snap the rubberband at all.

I am with you on this and understand. I am glad someone else does this.

I also say mantras in my head when i obsess about him. That works too.

Good luck and keep snapping!

I like the rubber band idea. It's a bit interesting, if you look around, there seem to be a lot of people sporting the rubber band look. Sort of make you wonder what their story is.

never thought of that....that is a good observation. I never made the connection when i saw others wearing rubber bands except that there are plenty of better accessory choices.

>>>there are plenty of better accessory choices.<<<

A beautiful diamond tennis bracelet would be my accessory of choice.

Someone hand me the biggest rubber band you can find, because I need to snap it. I just saw xmm as I was out walking through the neighborhood. He was in his garage pretending not to see me. For crying out loud I'm 5'10 and not invisible. Not that I would have stopped or anything, but a neighborly wave or head nod wouldn't kill him. It's so frustrating and I still want to tell him off. I guess he must still be a little mad about something I said to him at work the other day. Oh well, life goes on a little easier for some of us that are dealing with our issues and not trying to ignore them so it all goes away.

I just needed to vent a little and now I feel better. Thanks for listening.
