The Slot Machine Never pays!!

I realized that this A has been like gambling, no matter how much money you put into the maching you just lose more and more and never hit the big jackpot. I have invested 5 years, lost my marriage, my self respect, my dignity, 5 years of my life and I keep investing more waiting for the big win. I feel like I am in a casino, writing bad checks to get more gambling money KNOWING I AM GOING TO GET THE BIG JACKPOT. How much does one need to lose before they finally cash in the chips they have left and walk away. Everytime I go to walk away just like a slot machine it spurts out a little money to keep playing, and you tell your self oh it is starting to pay out. But you lose more and more. I AM LEAVING LAS VEGAS! I am done!

Oh! Don't forget the Pre-playing schmooze! You know... the staff CARDS you to make sure your "of age" to play (isn't it flattering they think you're under 21?). Then you get all kinds of "freebies" . . . food, drinks, comps, even an occasional few dollars to encourage you to stay and play! Once they know they've got you, then they start subtley squeezing you of your soul . . . then if or when you leave, what do they do? They send you "coupons" in the mail to REMIND you of what a great time you had!!

Damn great analogy, Fooled2much! I'm with you, I called "1-800-BETS-OFF"!!

Great analogy! In keeping with the theme, never forget the saying "Don't gamble with more than you can afford to lose." If we all had thought this way BEFORE placing that first bet, we would have left the casino with everything we entered with.

analogy continued:

i must be the lonely fat chick wanderin' around, not wanting to gamble not wanting to do crack,(but love to observe intellectually the game and the people playing them because I am a geek like that) keepin' my last two coins in my pocket..contemplating hookin' on the corner just to exercise the lust my geek mind does have (!) LOL but staring at the pit boss (who is really cute and seems so smart) and sighing. maybe i should get a taxi job just for the interaction::headin' for the door::

roflmao at the analogies and how true they are
(great thread...poingant yet funny sometimes)::hands Max one of my coins::

Getting on the bus is that first step, too many Elvis's for me anyhow. Come to think of it perhaps we should replace the term MM or xMM with Elvis and exElvis - I think that would make a LOT of sense. Great analogy - hope your doing ok.
