Starting Marriage Counseling Today

Hello ladies- Happy Monday :)

Today marks day 25 NC for me AND the start of MC for my H and I. I am nervous. I've been to IC, but never been to MC before. I am excited to be making this step with my H so that we can move forward and both put the pain of the A behind us. My goals for the sessions include learning to communicate openly and honestly and learning to trust my H and myself again. (The mistrust of my H stems back to early in our relationship when I felt like I was always shut down when I expressed myself. I know I have to regain a sense of security with H before I can communicate with him openly- and we must be able to communicate before we can repair our M)

For those of you who have taken steps to save your M and have gone to MC, do you have any advice or encouragement for me?

My advice is only to be 100% honest with your therapist. the T cannot help you if you are not brutally honest and as open as possible.

Best of luck to you and your H. I hope you are inspired and make great strides.

Hi Jane,

Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you today and I hope the session went well (as well as it can) and wanted to encourage you to keep going.

Counseling is an essential but often revealing process and I'm finding not all of the revelations are fun. But I'm so proud of you for having the courage and strength to go forward.

~hugs~

Hi Ladies- The first session went well (I think). I am headed to bed because all of that honesty was really very draining, but I will be back tomorrow to share my thoughts. I hope those of you who are struggling have found a little peace tonight- and for those tweeners and veterans who come here to support everyday, thank you. I hope you have a little peace tonight, too.
