Good morning ((((((everybody))))))

I have a question for those of you in therapy or seeking therapy. It's been over 10 years since I've looked around for therapists/counselors, and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by the process, but I know I need to get in treatment ASAP. NEED. Did you all look for specific criteria (education, specialization in A or marriage)? How about psychologist vs. psychiatrist vs. counselor/therapist? When you called to make an appointment did you specify that you were looking for treatment relating to your A? Or did the A just eventually come up in your sessions?

Sorry if I'm prying, but I think any information would be helpful as I make the step to finding a great doc. Thank you!

Hi Doe :)

In my particular quest for a great counselor, I went the CBT route. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - which focuses on thoughts producing feelings - irrational thinking - tends to be shorter in duration - focusing primarily on a person's CURRENT life circumstances and how our THOUGHTS create our reality.

I enjoy it because its very practical, helped quickly, made me feel back in control, (less victimy) immediately.

I swear by it! :)

Good luck to you,

Michelle
