Knowledge IS power! The more you read, the more you'll understand the psychological triggers that lure us into this deceitful, unsavory behavior. We all suffer from character flaws, and our integrity needs to be protected even moreso when outside elements rear their ugly little heads with the promise to ease such suffering. Seeking outside sources to fill a void that can only be appeased from within is where most of us make our mistakes.Instant gratification (or what I refer to as flirting with the devil), is very damaging on all fronts. The "Get it now, pay for it later" mindset can be taken QUITE LITERALLY when it comes to affairs, because WE DO END UP PAYING for it one way or another.

Anything "worth" having/learning comes through patience and hard work. Give your therapist the benefit of the doubt, give youself time to learn, heal and grow, and give your XOM the BOOT, once and for all.
It is impossible to fix a problem if you can't define it and to define a problem we have internally we have get to know our self your T can help you with that.
I would suggest that you attempt to not beat yourself up anymore, to go through what your going to with the T in the coming weeks\months your going to need a strong EGO\self-esteem and beating on yourself with your words and thoughts will not help you, there is much that is positive about you try to see that as much as you see the less pleasent stuff.
Affairs are about us there not about our spouse or the OP, how we react to the nagatives in our life including people does not tell us about them it tells us about us and how we deal with the problems we have in life.
You cannot change other people but you can change how you react to them, that is the one power you do have.
