I am also a yogi, like Bodhi and since she is hanging with Mickey this week I thought I would post in her absence...in her honor, because she is pretty much the coolest chick ever.

Alright UBM!!!

So I am about as late as one can be in chiming in here...as the dawn of the newest Zenesday has now graced upon some of us. However, I just wanted to say that I thought this post was absolutely beautiful! I was going to post a Zenesday thread of my own (mostly cause I agree Bodhi is the coolest chick ever)....but damn if you didn't 1) beat me to it and 2) blow my would have been post out of the water!

As a green fella I have to tell you that I loved your analogy of the seed. And also as a product of the midwest I know of the picture you paint of winter's face. But as someone who studies what is happening in the soil...I have to use your leafless, barren forest in my own metaphor.

While it is true that what we can see in the winter appears dead and lifeless, the amount of work going on under the surface by all the creatures living in, on, and around the roots is actually amazingly high over winter. When blanketed with a nice insulating layer of snow the earth actually warms, and things start going crazy! So many things working hard to get all those nutrients from last year broken down and ready for the trees to use in this spring.

So too that is like all of us. Right now as we feel leafless---lifeless. Sometimes working so hard against the winters wind just to keep standing. That is only what is on the outside...or what is visible. Underneath, or within us, there is so much going on to process all the "waste" from this experience. So thats ok, let it do its work...run its course...and by spring we will emerge, stronger and more beautiful than the year before!

I also really have focused on the idea of surrender. I don't know if it was you Bodhi first said this too in one of her responses in December...but it resonated so deeply with me. To fully embellish the word, when I meditate on it, I imagine myself a leaf in a stream. I can have no impact on where I end up, I can not swim. Instead I release into the current...no resistance... surrender!

Again UBM, what a great post. You have come so far in such a little time. I remember when you first arrived. Keep up the good work my friend....you are a pretty cool chick yourself! :)
