I know some of you are experiencing the same blizzard I am here in Northern Illinois. I've been up for some time listening to the wind whip outside (it’s gusting up to 60 mph they are saying). I've always loved storms – summer and winter. There is something peaceful about winter storms (plus no threat of tornados). There in so much energy in the little flakes as they fly through the air, completely silent. When a flake lands on your hand, you see it’s beauty and delicacy for a quick second before it melts away. The new snow creates a peaceful blanket of white, covering the dirt and grime and slush from previous storms.
Part of ending an affair has to do with changing your habits – the habit of checking your phone, or driving by his/her house – even your thoughts become habits. Think of it like walking through 3 feet of fresh snow. At first it’s difficult – your legs get stuck, your boot falls off, but as you walk that same path it gets easier and easier. Forming a habit is like forging that initial path. Who wants to trek through 3 feet of snow? We do! It’s all about your attitude and the way you look at it. Take another path today and change a habit. You have a fresh, untouched blanket of white in front of you and you get to choose the direction your new path will take.
Simply being in this winter wonderland keeps me in the present time. Even if you are in the desert or on the other side of the world experiencing summer right now, see your surroundings in a new light today.

Bodhi,
I love your analogy and attitude about this %$#$% snow.
That is such a wonderful analogy!
Thanks Always :) You learn how to walk really fast when you have to be outside!

Iddy :) I loved the snow as a kid too - we practically lived outside. We all need to find that happy child again! I love the idea of seeing our footprints in the snow.

Sunrise -
We have about a 4 foot drift right outside our back door! It's beautiful though. Of course I don't mind you posting. Keep working on getting off that fence - it's hard, but so worth it. Read as much as you can in the healing library - it saved me at the beginning. I had a folder of posts that I printed out and carried around with me. I bet I read some of them a hundred times.
Create some new, healthy habits today :)

I was thinking yesterday as the news people kept making SUCH a big deal about the storm that Canadians and Alaskans were probably thinking "What a bunch of wusses - what's the big deal?" It's hard to tell with the drifts exactly how much we got, but it looks like about a foot and a half (45 cm? if I did my math correctly?)
Keep warm -
