Bringing back the "squirrels"

Quite awhile ago on this board there was much talk of "squirrels".

It was kind of fun and silly, and it helped to relieve anxiety. What do "squirrels" have to do with us?

Well, you know how you get when your AP has dropped out of sight and off the planet, it seems, and your mind goes crazy trying to figure it out? What did I say what did I do what does this mean is it over should I cry why won't the phone ring/e-mail arrive/text message appear and on and on and on...

That's what we used to call "squirrels", those runaway thoughts, as if our minds are attics and the squirrels are trapped there, scurrying about, ramming into walls and getting hysterical, just like we are. We need someone to come and chase the squirrels out of there!

Chances are you AP is busy and not worrying about a thing. Everything's fine, it's not over and you should relax. See? I just got rid of your squirrels. That's me, chasing them out. Big shovel and all!

Telling everyone about your squirrels usually helps to get rid of them. So share them anytime. The "squirrel brigade" is here to help. :-)

OMG - "Mistress of the squirrels"!! LOL that brought an entirely different and disturbing visual to mind than the squirrels in the hamster wheel! But "keeper of the squirrels"... ahhh... Anotherfive in a long flowing dress... white... flowers in her hair... basket of xanax fortified squirrel food on her arm, gently feeding the squirrels from her hand. MUCH better visual for sure!! :-)

Goddess! Of COURSE I remember you! And your name is always "close enough" so that I know who you are, especially with that crazy kitten LOL. Besides, I lurk elsewhere and have kept up with you all. :-) Good to see you!

Yes, we need to be silly sometimes. Those squirrels are usually NOT fun, but when we talk about them, well, it becomes fun after all. Glad it made you chuckle!

If I am not seeing any squirrels, and none are trying to cross my way, what does that mean?

I definitely remember when i did run into them in the past with thoughts of AP and going crazy of what this means or what that means, but i dont get that anymore. Now it's all calm and pretty much - whatever!

What does that mean?! I think AP battles some squirrels of his own though.
