You're thinking too much and making things up in your head, who cares what connections they're assuming. Besides, we don't really know or have any control of how/what people think.. Just put together a good resume, send it and hope for the best. Every new job or field is not exactly the same as your old. That's why they always have someone to show you the ropes when starting a new job.
Don't let your low self esteem put doubts in your head. Fortune favors the bold.

I agree, put in your resumee and see what happens. Many people land jobs because of someone they know. If you get it, great, if you don't, know harm done. Good luck
GIRL! Do you know that we are living in the worst economical crisis in our national history in almost 80yrs??? To hell w/ who might think what, you need to think about hungry babies hanging off your teets, and gas and electricity to keep them warm. IDK, maybe you don't have kids, but ME, kids or no kids I have become rather accustom to sleeping indoors. It can be very cold, and wet this time of year. No we may chuckle at my slight dramatization, but that is reality for way too many folks these days. S woman w/ children getting evicted, no food, no heat. It's awful!!
Now, I said all that, to say this. YOU BETTER CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE! If you go into that interview w/ an "Oh I'd love to have this job, but I don't deserve it," attitude, then your interviewer will pick up on that. He may not be able to say exactly why he choose not to hire you, but didn't do it because it just didn't feel right."
Don't do that to yourself! Do you know how many wonderful people who are out there but never get a chance to prove themselves because the never met "the right person?" But had they met, their whole lives would have been different.
Please think about it, and don't do your self a disservice by YOU making the decision that you weren't qualified enough. He/she will take in consideration your areas that need improvement, and will be able to recognized your strengths, and if they will mesh well w/ the company. Let them do their job, and you do yours, which is to sell yourself in the BEST lite possible. Keep your head up. You can do it!
