embarassing question, but...

Hi everyone: Once again after making love with my MM, I got a bladder infection. I seem to be prone to them and have had them off and on through the years, although I seem to have them much more frequently since I became involved with my MM. Has anyone else had this problem? I do try to take steps to prevent them and have researched the condition, talked to my doctor, etc. MM and I are 'clean' people, but I still get them occasionally and it just drives me nuts. Any advice or info from the ladies out there would be appreciated. thanks! Virgogirl

Hi Virgo, I've been getting them lately too over the last several months. Probably because we've been quite "naughty" lately, lol, I won't go into details.

But a couple of things you can do will help (they've helped me alot lately).

#1 if you're using toys, make sure you wash them off beore re-using them. Even if you've just used it, just take a minute to go and rinse it under hot water and wipe it with a clean towel.

#2 make sure to take a tinkle after you have sex. This helps to rinse out any bacteria that might have gotten in there while you were having sex

#3 get yourself some pure cranberry caplets and take a couple after having sex. Its not medically proven, but cranberrys have a strong acidic base which helps to keep bacteria from adhering to your urinary tract.

#4 wash up after sex if you can.

I've been doing these faithfully, and haven't had an infection for a couple of months now. And for awhile there, it seemed like almost every time we had sex, I came down with one!! Its not that you are "dirty", but its just that during sex, sometimes fluids, etc. get up into places. With a little care, you will be fine!!

Thanks Dusty. I knew about some of these, but guess I got careless and ended up with an infection. Man, they hurt like hell, don't they? The cranberry pills right after is a good idea. The last time we had fooled around was not in the most ideal place (in the car at the park), so no accomodations to clean up at right away. I know you've talked about going to a hotel before (some of your stories were hilarious LOL), but we've always been afraid of leaving a paper trail of any kind. What do you write down on the hotel registration form, do you use your real name and address? Anyway, thanks for the tips. Virgogirl

Hi there!! I never do the registering at the hotel, MM does. I'm pretty sure he pays cash. I know he gives his real name, because when I go in I ask for Mr. X's room and they tell me the #. He usually gets there before me.

Although the deskgirl knows me and just tells me the room number without me having to even ask usually.

Mmm, last Friday was so nice. I'm hoping to talk him into another visit tomorrow before he has to go out of town for a few days.

Have a great day !!

Don't have any experience in this but here is an article that can help you.

Some more pointers from another page:

Good personal hygiene is important. Blot or wipe gently from front to back after urinating or having a bowel movement. This will avoid spreading bacteria from your rectum to your vagina or urethra.

Try not to use colored toilet paper, bubble bath, perfumed soaps, douches, feminine hygiene deodorants, and deodorant tampons and napkins.

Wear cotton underwear. Avoid wearing tight clothing, such as bodysuits, tight pants and nylon panty hose without cotton liners.

Avoid using strong soaps and bleaches when washing underclothes.

Avoid prolonged activities that can aggravate bladder infections, such as bicycling, horseback riding, motorcycling and traveling.

Drink six to eight glasses of water or fluids a day. Drinking cranberry juice may be helpful, but check with your doctor first. It should not be used with some medications.

Urinate when you feel the urge - do not hold urine for long periods of time.

Urinate before and after having intercourse.

During your period, if you wear pads, change them at least twice a day.

Thanks Juliet, many of the tips you listed I already practice. The web page you refer to is great, and has some good information. I think I'm going to start eating more yogurt and (although it's not my favorite), drinking cranberry juice. Dusty also gave me the idea to take a couple of cranberry pills after sex. I've had problems with kidney and bladder infections since I was a teenager and think I'm just prone to the damn things. Thanks again!! Virgogirl

She usesd to get infections out the wazoo every time we met. Later on, we changed our MO. When my date and I entered a hotel room, I ALWAYS removed the bedspread and the top sheet while she was in the bathroom "freshening up." When we didn't do this, my penis was out in the open to accrue any old nasty germ that just happend to be on the bedspread (which, as you can guess, is re-used countless times before they're washed).

Put another way, it's the man's fault. Her thing doesn't hang out to rub on nasty surfaces, but his does.

LOL...thanks Razor. Good to hear from a man's perspective. Anatomically speaking, women are vulnerable too, simply because of the way we're built. I need to be a little more careful I guess. Difficult to do sometimes, during the throes of passion..**(blush)** I told him that he needs to wash his hands, as well. Thanks for the tip, I would have never thought about the germy bedspread!
