More hotel/motel questions

We've never had to do this before, and I have a question or two. Do you have to use your real name when you check in? Do they ask for a home address, ID? Do you have to tell them someone else is joining you? I'm feeling a little nervous, never having checked into a motel before. Any suggestions or advice would really be appreciated.

Yes, I believe you will have to have ID, and they will ask for your address, as well as your license plate #. I do not believe that you *have* to tell them that someone else is joining you, although if they had given you a rate based on single occupancy and then they were to see someone else join you, they may ask for you to pay the rate of double occupancy. At least, this has been my experience.

Well, I would think you could let him do the checking in. I think most hotel rooms anymore have double beds, and the price is the same if one person or two people rent the room. It's only more if more are in the room, I would think. They do generally ask for some form of ID, so it's not possible to put down a false name in most cases. Hey, hotel personal are very aware of trysting folks. LOL . Only HE needs to check in, I never have checked in with my husband, and me and my MM go to his place (when she is away, of course)

If I have to use my real name and address at check in, am I right to be paranoid? The motel is in a fairly small town about 45 miles away from where I live. I know some of you have written that you do this frequently, are you ever nervous aboout having your name and address out there? Am I worrying needlessly, or could something come of it?

Hey...well this is my experience with the hotels. We tried out a couple until we found one that was cheap but nice. Most asked for my credit card which i didn't like. But this last one we use, i would give $25 cash deposit and then collect it in the morning. Well i have been there enough times the girl doesn't charge me the dep anymore. I use my work address which i can totally get away with. My cell phone bill goes to work as well. I check out in the morning and ask for a reciept just to make it look like business and reimbursement. I end up shredding it later. Sometimes, i don't check out, i just leave the key and jam. Its not a big deal. And honestly, hotel staff has probably seen it all. Maybe she knows what i am up to. I don't know. She has seen my mm with me and him coming in like several minutes after me. Its really crazy actually but whatever.

Funny story for you....this last time, i was given a room that the door didn't lock. I didn't think anything of it. I wasn't planning on sleeping there. Well we always meet back the next morning even if just for an hour or two. Well the night maintenance ppl decided to fix the lock on the door. SO the next mroning when i got back, the key didn't work. I had to go ask what happened after realizing the door was locked. She didn't know (she was just coming to work) and there was a note with my new key, and my stuff that i had left there in the room the day before. They had to move me to a new room. Ok well that was a dead give away that i hadn't slept there. She was totally cool about it and was very apologetic and felt bad cuz i had been removed from their little system and she couldn't give me a reciept. HAH! To funny. I just hope they don't think I am a working girl if you know what i mean.

Good luck.

Good grief, they want a credit card? I had hoped to just pay cash, although I do have my own credit card that I don't think H even knows about. I pay all the bills because he never could get around to geting them paid on time.

We're sharing the cost and I think I'm going to ask OM if he can do the checking in since he's single and isn't risking the roof over his head and we'll be getting there about the same time anyway. Normally, we go to his house but he has a temporary roommate (male) right now.

That's hilarious about the lock being changed on you. Thanks for sharing.

hi minnimac. just a note -- the hotels/motels i deal with ask for the credit card, but tell them you will be paying cash on check-in and to hold your credit card number, just in case. that way they can check to make sure you have enough credit to cover the room charge, but when you (or OM) check in and pay cash for your one-night stay, you be covered.

and yes, let OM check in and give out ID. you can give him half the cash and he can show his face and ID.

sabrina -- that was funny girl! and who cares what they think, but if you were a "working girl" you would have been using the room right? too funny.

have fun,

So you make a reservation ahead of time? I was hoping we could just show up. I've been checking online and they don't seem to be booked up for that night. But it is a Friday, do you think I'd better resrve a room? I really don't want to be so stressed about this, but it is definitely the riskiest thing we've done in all the time we've been together.

hi -- yes make the reservation (or better yet, have him make it with his card!) now. just tell the reservation desk/person you will be paying in cash on check-in. they shouldn't put anything on the card.

i just did this -- for next weekend with my MM. it usually is hassle-free.

45 miles if far enough away from home so relax and try to enjoy the plans to be with your MM/OM.

Thanks so much for your encouragement. We haven't been together for 3 months and I don't want anything to go wrong.
