it depends on what he is using, if it is a keystroke, he can figure out the new password, too, best to go under the start menu, and look for what type it is, and uninstall it, if that is possible, but he will wonder where it went, it is probably a good idea to cool the emails until youknow for sure.
Emails are the root of all affair evil! I know so many people who got busted that way. IM's are harder to track, although a keystroke program can figure those out too....
have your own lap top and lock it up when not in use...OR just use the work puter....(and hope your IT department isn't reading and getting their rocks off in their office at your expense!) Change your email address and passwords FREQUENTLY. Have an email account exclusively for AP....none of these things can protect you totally but you want to have a "catch me if you can" kind of thing with emails......
God bless the good old days with land lines, snail mail love letters sent to secret PO Boxes, and off shore tax free bank accounts...oh wait, that's a different board! HA!
I never knew it was on the computer for a couple years- there was nothing interesting to find until I met my AP and the reading got good, I guess.
I don't know the details of the program but my bf had decided to confront me and had print outs of several years old email that I know had been long deleted, myspace messages and blog entries. I was confronted and then my AP got confronted (at his work) and the A was abruptly ended.
I couldn't figure out how he got the info until I saw something on some news program about trackers and it dawned on me to search the computer and there is was. I looked up how it was ran and then found the jump drive that the info was stored on; plugged it in and saw what was collected, deleted it all (even though I was already caught) and deleted the program from the computer. It was a small victory.
You say you deleted the program from the computer.....I understand these programs are very hard to find, which makes perfect sense. They run in "stealth-mode" which sounds rather ominous.
Could you share info on how you "found" it? It's not as simple as going into "add/delete programs" and seeing what's there....is it???
I'm really concerned for my MM's computers/laptops. One of his kids is an IT major in college and he's always doing stuff to their computers. It's totally possible there's a keylogger installed and he doesn't know it.
I would love if you could share any info you have. And be gentle....I'm not real techie, but not totally stupid either :)
You're right, it's not in add/remove programs; I went into the start menu and into "search" , "all files and folder" and typed in "spy" so that anything with that word in it would turn up and it sure did! After the progrm turned up, the search program asked if there was anything else or if I wanted to search in more locations and I searched in hidden files but the first search got it all.
Also, there are text forwarding programs that can send all your outgoing/ingoing texts secretly to someone's cell or email- however they set it up- in real time so they can read all your messages. I searched for that, too and found something but it doesn't look like it's that actual program; if you do a google or yahoo search for "text spy" or "text forward spy" or something along those lines it will give you names of different programs to look for on the computer.
I'm going to pass this onto him. He's entirely too laid back about this and feels his son would never do something like that. Ahhhhhh, not so sure. I appreciate your response!
1. If my AP emails me from her HOME computer with email addy of ***at yahoodotcom, can the H see her emails to me?
