Hi Bird,
reading your post brought home to me why those on EAS advocate the NC rule.
It seems that just as you find strength, you risk it all by contacting, perhaps sometimes even out of guilt. He has been supportive to you. So has my AP. But when you do contact, you make yourself vulnerable as your feelings then start to depend on
1) the speed of his reponse
2) the content of his response.
It just set up a mad cycle. And then you start a new cycle the next time. That's a stressful way to live.
As a man, i can assure you, we may be different from you women but we are human. No one gets away without the pain. My AP currently compartmentalises better than I. Men are usually better at that. But the fact is, when my A ends, which i believe it has to soon, all the compartmentalisation goes, as we are feeling, thinking human beings. That is our common state, men and women.
I curse the advent of texts, e-mail etc.
I wonder how many more affairs owe their life to such modes of communication?

I eavesdropped on your reply to Iggy (pffft my thread after all LOL ) and I have to say girl, I was quite humbled and floored by my general limited consideration for my AP's point of view recently.
Hello there Rob ...always nice to see a guy post here and even better ones who give a considered perspective.
You are completely right about the thoughts/feelings that can be created when we make ourselves vulnerable by initiating contact.
