mom, you are a wonderful writer -- was MM your english professor?! it certainly sounds like it from your posts.
here's what i would say --
*if you're looking for excitement, passion and wreckless debauchery, maybe you should have been born a roman emperor! since you're not, i guess you'll have to find someone else to give you the high you apparently crave. good luck buddy!*
and then i'd never speak to him again. i know that is harsh, but this man is obviously losing interest, through no fault of yours, and cannot graciously end his extracurricular activities with you.
he's a loser, sweetie. you deserve much, much, much better treatment! since your M is good right now, concentrate on that R and make it even better and make yourself happy in the process.
You crack me up. No, he's not an English prof. Thanks again for the advice. Although I do agree with the sentiment, I think I will phrase it a bit more, shall we say, gently. We have known each other for 11 years now and have been together for almost 2 (NMR and I started about the same time--she thinks he's a jerk too). So, I think I'm ending it like this...
Obviously, this is not how you view things, and that's too bad. It's bad for me b/c I have some pretty strong feelings for you, and bad for you because if what you really seek is eternal passion, then some day you too will feel the disappointment that I face now.
So? I like it--sounds kinda' sweet on the surface, but between the lines it smells of pity and condescension. The bastard. Anyway, I'm sure he will reply (he wouldn't dare forget my birthday, even if we are split up), so I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for all of your help!
