While reading this board it struck me how similar we all are in our affairs!

Just my .02 here. . .I agree we have many similarities, that all A's are different. I agree with the addiction.

But I don't think of any of my APs as soul mates. Never gone back and forth with NC.

I let my heart get away from me with my first real A and promised myself not to let that happen again. A's are mostly sport for me now and when an AP shows signs of getting possessive or emotional (and its amazing how often that happens, even with 'players') - I'm moving on.

Just my .02, like I said. . .ymmv.

Yep, you are right about the similarities. There are two different types of affairs, the ones that you are involved just for the fun of it, the sex, the friendship...no emotions involved. The other is the affair of the heart where you truly fall in love and realize one day you are tired of the sneaking around and lying and want to be a REAL relationship with him/her. The back and forth is the hope that this time the both of you truly understand the consequences and are ready for that leap into reality.

I don't buy that all affairs are different. The only thing "different" are the petty details that are interchangeable. They all fit into maybe two or three different categories.
