Can anyone think of any popular songs (that were hits at one time) that are based on affairs? One that comes to mind is "Secret Lovers" by Atlantic Starr. Does anyone have any others they listen to? If so, list them here! I'm curious...

There are two songs by John Mayer that make me think of my MM..

Breakaway

If melody is my destiny then what's left of me, I'll give to you.

If next to me is all that you need to be, would you settle for fantasy, if its the best you could do?

(chorus)Can I have my cake? Can I have you too? Would you follow me? Could I ask you to?

Would the world between us break these ties we've work to hard to realize?

Can a postcard say what I see in your eyes? Could I ever break away?

Would I be satisfied and find peace inside, rolling half my life over broken white lines

(chorus)

Will I wake up one morning and see your face and streaks on the window that the rainstorm makes? Could you bear all the weight and the stregnth that it takes? Could I ever break away?

(chorus)

The song by John Mayer is Other Man on the Side

Six numbers, one more to dial before I'm before you tonight. I tried to call, been busy all night, gave up waiting at daylight.

Excuse Mrs. Busybody, could you pencil me in when you can, though we both know that the worst part about it is I would be free when you wanted me. I am the man on the side hoping you'll make up your mind. I am the one who will swallow his pride, life as a man on the side.

One of the many, one of the few to stand back and wait for you. Excuse Mrs. Busybody, could you pencil me in when you can, though we both know that the worst part about it is I would be free when you wanted me. I am the man on the side hoping you'll make up your mind. I am the one who will swallow his pride, life as a man on the side.

I fell in love with the dream that I built of you, playing the part of queen. Taking my own advice, I'm giving you up tonight, good luck to you and the king.

Excuse Mrs. Busybody, could you pencil me in when you can, though we both know that the worst part about it is I would be free when you wanted me. I am the man on the side hoping you'll make up your mind. I am the one who will swallow his pride, life as a man on the side.

Almost forgot my all time favorite by Garth Brooks - To make you feel my love

When the rain if blowing in your face and the whole world is on your case, I would offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear, and there is no one to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years to make you feel my love.

I know you haven't made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong, I've known it from the moment that we met, there's no doubt in my mind where you belong.

I'd go hungry, I'd go blind for you, I'd go crawling down the aisle for you, there ain't nothing that I wouldn't do for you, to make you feel my love.

The storms are raging on a rolling sea, down the highway of regret. The winds of change are blowing wild and free, you ain't seen nothing like me yet.

There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do, go to the ends of the earth for you, make you happy, make your dreams come true, to make you feel my love.

Sad Eyes by Robert John - a heartbreaker

Looks like it's over, you knew I couldn't stay

She's comin' home today

We had a good thing, I'll miss your sweet love

Why must you look at me that way?

It's over

Sad eyes, turn the other way

I don't wanna see you cry

Sad eyes, you knew there'd come a day

When we would have to say "goodbye"

Try to remember the magic that we shared

In time your broken heart will mend

I never used you, you knew I really cared

I hate to see it have to end

But it's over

Sad eyes, turn the other way (turn the other way)

I don't wanna see you cry (cry, cry, cry)

Sad eyes, you knew there'd come a day (he-e-e-ey)

When we would have to say "goodbye"

Neither of these are 'affair' songs per se, but these two really get to me.

Without You (Mariah Carey)

Where Your Road Leads (Trisha Yearwood/Garth Brooks duet)

Beautiful, haunting songs. Real tear-jerkers, no matter where you are in the EMA.
