My theory is that the reason Governor Mark Sanford's "confession" about his affair with the lady from Argentina sounded so "confused" and rambling is that he's in love with her, and that even though he doesn't love his wife of 20 years anymore, he wants to "do the right thing" and reconcile with her because of societal, and maybe religious, pressures. Any thoughts?

no, i think that 'she' wants him to 'do' the right thing. i have seen over

and over that many times, the w of mm is controlling or severely

religious and uses the guilt of 'religion' to condemn the wandering

spouse when it is most likely, the overly religious and demanding nature of

said betrayed spouse that sent wandering spouse to wander in the 1st

place. if a spouse feels undervalued at home, is bullied, continually

criticized, etc. they will look for comfort and relief from the abuse.

the comments of mr. sanford's w about repetance makes me believe

this may be a factor in this case...

I agree. I think he must have loved her very much to just leave the country like he did.
