Confuzed - the way your co-workers (even one of the owners) have been acting - implying you are having an affair and even closing the door when you are in APs office - can be construed as sexual harrassment - especially when it comes from someone "higher up" than you are! If they call you in for a meeting I would imply to them that I'd been thinking about the way I've been treated lately and finding that it's been creating a hostile work environment and you want it to stop NOW. My guess is that they will drop the whole thing, as long as you and AP cool it. And yes, you can say you sent the e-mail that you sent as a joke since everyone seemed to be making a joke of something that was NOT happening - so in effect it came from the way you've been treated - you tried to make a joke out of it, but you now find it is NOT funny and it's making you miserable at work.
Even if people suspected something that was really happening, they just can't treat you that way - it's against the law, and very unprofessional. Use it against them.
I concur with all the other ladies...this is a hostile work environment!
They probably wanted AP to sign off on an affair so you could not file any type of sexual harassment type charge...meanwhile it appears to me his partners act like the office is a frat house!
The best defense is a good offense--get your ducks in a row, write out the instances of behavior by the co-workers, and if called in be sure to stand tough and do as the posters have advised. And keep in contact with AP so you both stay on the same page.
Confuzed,
I do feel for you hon, it must feel really out of control right now !
Hi Confuzed,
I'm sorry you're having to deal with this issue.
