Windows Vista

I had to get a new laptop; mine landed on the floor with a CRASH and went into a fatal pixel rhythm!! Looked like a bunch of fireworks on my screen; very pretty but devastating!

Anyway....they all come with Windows Vista. Not happy. Ugh. I'll get used to it eventually. But....I can't find the stinkin "FIND" feature. On XP you hit "Start" and the window popped up with "connect to", "control panel", "FIND". Where did the FIND go? There's a little "search" thingy but it's not the same.

On XP you could click on "FIND" and that box would come up and you would tell it where to look...."documents", "all files", "hidden files".

Funny, yesterday in Best Buys I told the guy I needed a laptop without Windows Vista and he said...."don't we all!!".

I'm off to keep looking for my "FIND"......

On mine, it's called "search" - is that what you're looking for?

Ya know, if it ain't broken; don't fix it!
I guess Bill gets bored every few years! LOL
(of course now he's moved onto vaccinating the world....a much more lofty challenge...pretty amazing and admirable and probably more interesting than dealing with Vista bugs!)

i just bought a new lap top. very fast t6400 toshiba, but any way i couldn't figure out vista. i always go to my xap for pc help. i have to remember what he told me to do, but there's a way to run vista to be very similar to xp. mine looks and runs like xp. xp was up to the service pack 3, it was a great running system. my desk top still has xp.

Not sure if this will help with your Vista problems but like the previous poster said you can make Vista look and feel more like XP by switching to "Classic Start Menu".

Should have gone with an Apple. They're better anyway.

Sounds like a Ford vs. Chevy argument.

Good point. I don't even own an Apple, although that's what I'm going to get next time I buy one. They don't become "old" as fast as Windows.
